As the year comes to a close I’ve had a chance to slow down a little bit and I realized I never got around to posting photos from this year’s Fallapalooza show at The Icehouse Amphitheater in Lexington, SC
I’m glad to see this celebration of the 90’s grunge era becoming an annual thing with a turnout that just seems to grow every year. This year the headlining act was Nirvani – A Nirvana Tribute Experience, with support from Glide – The Stone Temple Pilots Tribute and an acoustic set of Foo Fighters songs from local musician Rich Owensby to open the show. Unfortunately I was only able to catch the end of the opening set but Rich absolutely killed the couple of songs I was able to hear.
I’m not going to go into a long drawn out review here. Glide is always an amazing show and Nirvani (who supported last year’s show) are the closest thing to an actual Nirvana show I’ve ever seen.
The best part of the evening was hands down the crowd participation from the younger fans. Seeing the youth of today forming mosh pits and crowding the stage and enjoying the music I grew up with had myself and some old friends waxing nostalgic and watching on with big smiles.
